    Granny's fight over their man

    GRANNIES FIGHT OVER BOYFRIEND

Dayton, Ohio ... Punches were thrown and a gun was fired in a fight between two women over a man. What makes this story different is that all the people in this love triangle are in their seventies.

Edith Mitchell, 78, says she sitting in the car with her 72-year-old boyfriend when she was attacked by a 73-year old woman, who claimed they had the same beau.

"She came up and grabbed me out and said 'that's my man,'" Mitchell said. "She said, 'Hey [expletive], you with my man, get out of that car.'"

Mitchell alleges that she got out the car and went inside her home, but the younger woman followed her. Police say the woman then hit Mitchell several times in the face, so to protect herself, Edith grabbed her gun -- but she dropped it and the other woman picked it up.

According to police, the 73-year-old pointed the gun and fired 3 times but it jammed.

Mitchell escaped without injury and called police. The other woman faces attempted murder charges.

Edith says she and her man are still together.

    Weird News

    Ah-Whoo, Werewolves Of China

Fuzhou, China ... A 42-year-old woman says she's been howling like a wolf for 26 years -- and can't stop.

"My howls are like sneezes or yawns, they can't be controlled," said the woman, named Hong. "Sometimes I can't help howling in the streets. Passers-by jump far away, staring at me, thinking I am a psycho."

She says it all began when she started to suffer from back pain when she was 16 -- and by accident discovered that when she howled the pain went away

Hong says that when she howls, she feels a "release of gas" inside her, and "can't stop it." Hong howls up to four or five times a day -- for more than 20 minutes at a time.

She's been thoroughly checked by doctors -- and except for a protruding spinal disc, she's been given a clean bill of health.

    Drunk, Party Of One ...

Allen Township, Pennsylvania ... Scott Witmer doesn't need your stinking laws.

The 44-year-old man went in front of a judge on a drunk driving charge and told him that the laws don't apply to him. You see, Witmer believes that he is a "sovereign man" and that "means I live inside myself. I don't live in the state of Pennsylvania."

He submitted a 20-page motion that calls the charges tyrannical and unconstitutional.

The Sovereign Man is currently residing inside himself in jail, and won't emerge from tyranny without posting 25,000 bucks in bail.

    The Kid's financial plan

TALKING TO YOUNG KIDS ABOUT FINANCES

Have you talked to your young children about the economic crisis? Be honest and specific, but don't overwhelm them with the details -- and reassure them. If something bad happens, such as a layoff, let your kids know you have a plan to get a new job. Don't have the news on all the time, and encourage your kids to pitch in to the new family financial plan.

Here Are Some Tips From Kiplinger's:

    1. Remember that little pitchers really do have big ears. Even if you don't discuss the situation with your kids, they can sense that something is up, especially if you're worried about your finances or that you might lose your job. If you ignore the situation, kids may imagine it's worse than it really is.

    2. Children live in a black-and-white world and take you literally. Don't resort to dark humor about going broke or ending up in the poorhouse. They may not know what a poorhouse is, but they'll figure it can't be good.

    3. A little honesty goes a long way. Kids don't want or need to know all the details of your balance sheet. They just want to know that, hard times or no, they'll have a roof over their heads and food on the table -- and that things will get better.

    4. Turn off the TV and tune out the talking heads. It's one thing to be well informed, but exposing your kids to a steady stream of hyped-up headlines and downbeat news is bad for their psyche.

    5. Have a plan. If you've lost your job, for example, tell the kids how you'll go about looking for a new one. Meanwhile, let them know that you'll be able to collect unemployment benefits or that your husband will bump up his hours to tide you over.

    6. Encourage the kids to pitch in. Let them know up front that their birthday wish lists will have to be shorter this year. They'll be happy to do their bit for the family.
